Tummy Ache Cha Cha
This is a painting of my husband and I to showcase how much we have grown individually and together over the past 10 years... I let him pick the title and he insisted on me calling it "Tummy Ache Cha Cha". It won 3rd place in the exhibition She/Her/Hers in Summit Artspace’s Three G Gallery.
In our vows, on our wedding day four years ago, in front of our friends and family we promised to put up with each other's bullshit. The gathering that day burst into laughter and that memory constantly reminds us to make sure we are enjoying what we are doing and not taking things too serious, thus I kept the very very silly title for what I thought was a romantic painting.

Through A Lens
This piece is a collaboration with the young woman featured in the painting. They chose the imagery/poses, title, and wrote the following poem to accompany it. Tyra and Ty’lia are my cousins by marriage and I have very much enjoyed watching them grow over the past few years into very different and strong woman. It was on display at Summit Artspace for the exhibition Femicentric: 2020 Vision. For this exhitibtion the juror requested that each piece be accompanied with a poem…
"Telephoto, wide-angle, macro, zoom. Such different lenses all meant for one goal. To capture the beauty of life. No need to be professional. Anyone can take a good picture. Same is true with life. Everyone so different. Like a different lens. All looking for the beauty that's so evident in the world. Everyone though a different filter of life events that led them to this point. All so different but all working for the same goal." - Ty’lia
